Frequently Asked Questions
Are your sessions in a studio or at an outdoor location?
We use natural lighting and outdoor locations. We especially love shooting in the early morning and late afternoon. Our style is very relaxed and natural which is why we prefer shooting outdoors and using natural light. We can hire studios and studio equipment for commercial, product & freelance photoshoots when required. For newborn or lifestyle shoots we shoot indoors at your home.
What happens if it rains?
Portraits: If it is heavily raining the day or morning before your portrait session, we will make contact with you to decide if you'd like to postpone. However if we are on location and it starts to rain, we will look for sheltered spots or use our clear umbrellas. As it's no fun being out in the rain with kids (we don't want anyone to catch a cold!) we are also happy to try wait it out & extend our shooting time so that we can shoot in the dry spells in between.
Weddings: If it rains during your location wedding photos, that's okay with us! We see it as a chance to get creative: either by finding sheltered spots (doorways, under trees etc) or by using our clear umbrellas. When we do our photo scout & venue visit before the wedding, we always look out for wet weather options.
Would you travel outside of Auckland?
Portraits: We are based in West Auckland so depending on the location, we'd be happy to discuss additional travel costs with you.
Weddings: We love to travel for weddings & shot internationally before! Our additional charges vary depending on location & the chosen package. If accommodation & flights are needed, we are happy to find somewhere nice but affordable. For international weddings, we would LOVE the chance to shoot your wedding! Send us more info & dates & we will try work out a special deal for you!
Note: We have permanent accommodation available in the Kerikeri & Kaeo districts so less travel costs apply to these areas.
How long will it take to see my photos?
Engagement and family photos usually take up to three weeks. Weddings can take up to 6-8 weeks with a sneak peek to you within 2-3 days.
I'm working on a budget, will you give me a discount?
Our packages have been carefully curated and priced according to their value, so the short answer is "No". However, we are happy to discuss a customised package to see if there's anyway we can make it work! Send us a message with more info and we'll be happy to discuss this further.
What should I wear to my portrait session?
The answer to this question all depends on the look and style you are going for. Some clients like to come nice and casual, some like to come formal or to a style (i.e. vintage themed). We encourage our clients to dress in complimentary colours & colours within the same range. So rather than everyone in the exact same colour as they did in the 80s and 90s, pick a few solid colours that compliment each other well and have everyone in varying shades of those colours. This way it feels cohesive without feeling matchy matchy.
It's also a great idea to dress to the season. That could look like big scarfs and cold colours on a winters day or floral crowns and flowy dresses in the Summer. Our best advice is to avoid busy patterns and anything with images/or distracting text.
Choose what makes you feel comfortable as confidence is a majoy key to looking good in front of the camera!
And lastly, we are always happy to send examples through to you to help you get a better idea or to chat with you further if you're still stuck for ideas or want to double check what you have planned!
If you have a question not listed above, send us a
